About Financial Chaplain Group

Financial Chaplain Group provides money management training, coaching, and pastoral care to people rebuilding after crisis.

This work started from zero — mine.

Between 2010 and 2014 our founder was unhoused. In 2012, still in that situation, she founded Partners of Hope, a veterans support nonprofit she ran for the next nine years. She never hid where she was from the veterans she served. "I'm not judging you. I used to be you." That honesty is why they listened, and why the method worked.

Being unhoused doesn't define her. But it showed her exactly who needed what she was building, and why conventional financial education so often fails the people who need it most. You cannot hand someone a budget worksheet and call it help when their life has come apart.

The curriculum grew from there — developed in direct service to veterans experiencing homelessness, later carried into a Financial Specialist role, and now the foundation of everything we do. The pattern it revealed has held everywhere since. When a life-altering event hits, the financial damage arrives with it, and neither one can be solved alone. A survivor fleeing an abusive home, a person returning from incarceration, a family losing housing, a patient facing $20,000 a month in treatment costs — different circumstances, the same wreckage underneath.

Our workshops and seminars teach money management. Our coaching applies it to each person's real situation. And our pastoral care addresses what financial crisis actually carries with it — the shame, the fear, and the grief that no budget worksheet reaches.

We deliver this work inside the organizations already serving these populations: shelters, veteran programs, survivor centers, re-entry programs, and cancer centers.
